That Thursday when my password manager locked me out during a work presentation
I had to reset 47 passwords live on a Zoom call with my boss watching because I forgot my master password, and now I keep a physical copy in my wallet.

I set up a three layer system after that happened to me. First layer is a password hint that only makes sense to me, not the actual password. Second layer I split the master password into two parts and wrote each part on separate sticky notes hidden in different spots in my home office. Third layer my phone has a note app with just the first three letters of the master password in case my brain totally blanks. Sounds paranoid but I've had to use that phone note twice now, definitely beats resetting everything again.

My cousin lost his job over something similar last year, and I always thought he was just careless. But then I forgot my own master password during a quarterly review and had to call IT support while my team just sat there staring at their screens. I had 23 passwords stored in there, and I was sweating bullets for 20 minutes before they got me back in. Now I keep a backup on paper in my glove compartment too. How do you store yours now?
