Hit 200 consecutive days of civil debate, didn't expect it to stick

I started a personal rule back in March to only push back on politics with questions, not attacks, after a family dinner went sideways. Yesterday I counted my daily subreddit replies and realized I'd made it 200 days without a single personal jab, which seemed impossible for someone like me who loved a good insult. The turning point was a thread about religious exemptions for vaccines where I actually changed someone's mind by just asking them to walk me through their reasoning instead of calling it nonsense. Has anyone else tracked their own behavior like this, and did the number make you second-guess your old style?

My buddy Dan tried this same thing after his brother stopped talking to him over an election. He kept a sticky note on his monitor that said just ask why and forced himself to type it out before any angry reply. After two months he noticed his comments got more replies, not less, and one guy actually apologized to him for being a jerk in a thread about zoning laws. Dan still slips up sometimes but he says the number on the sticky note matters more than the debate wins now.
