My uncle swore by a dry wall taping trick and it cost me 3 hours
My uncle has been hanging drywall for 22 years in Ohio and he told me to always prefill my gaps with hot mud before taping, said it saves a whole coat. I tried it on a 12 foot ceiling last month and the mud set up faster than I could work it, so I ended up sanding for 3 extra hours. He does small patch jobs, I do full rooms, and the timing just does not line up. Now I am wondering if anyone else has been given trade advice that works great for one person but falls apart in your own setup. What is the worst inherited tip you got from a family member in the trades?
