Tried listening only to talk radio for 30 days and came out more sure of nothing
I picked one show from each side every morning and by day 30 I noticed I agreed with whoever I heard last, which scared me a bit. Does that happen to you, or can you actually hold your view steady while hearing the other side out?
Two years ago I would've told you I was rock solid on my views no matter what I heard. Then I did something like your experiment, except I split it by topic instead of by day, one week on gun stuff, one week on taxes, and caught myself doing the exact same flip flop you're talking about. The last thing I read before bed won every single time, and it bugged me for weeks. What actually helped was writing down my reason for a view before I listened to the other side, so I could see later if the argument actually changed my mind or if I just got swept up by how confident the host sounded. Half the time it was just the confidence, not the facts, and once I could tell the two apart my views stopped wobbling so much. So no, you're not broken, you just found out how easy it is to get pulled around when you're hearing one side at a time.
