Comparing my quotes side by side showed a huge gap in labor costs
After a rough bid last month in Dearborn, I lined up two of my old estimates for the same 1,200 sq ft retail space. One had me at $4.50 a foot for demo, the other at $8.00, and the cheaper one lost me $300 on disposal fees alone. Anyone else catch their own pricing inconsistencies when they actually stack the paperwork?
Oh man I've been there. Pulled two of my old bids last year and the drywall labor was $2.10 on one and $4.75 on the other, for basically the same job. Made me realize I was just pulling numbers out of thin air half the time instead of using an actual rate.
