It was a simple image macro about the news last month, nothing graphic. I uploaded it to a private Discord server with about 20 people, all friends. Within 10 minutes, the platform's auto-moderation removed it for 'harmful misinformation'. I learned that even private spaces aren't safe from these broad filters. Has anyone found a reliable way to share this kind of content without getting nuked?

Just realized my bullet journal almost made a bad day worse

This past Tuesday was rough from the start. My car wouldn't start, I missed an important call, and I felt totally behind. I opened my journal to log my mood and tasks, and my habit tracker just showed a line of empty boxes for the week. Instead of helping, it felt like proof I was failing. I almost tore the page out. But then I grabbed a green pen, the one I save for good things, and wrote 'Today stinks' in big letters across the daily log. I drew a box around it and added three tiny things that went okay, like my coffee was hot and my dog was happy to see me. It didn't fix my car, but it stopped the spiral. Has anyone else had a day where your own tracking felt like it was working against you? What did you do?

I accidentally asked about a death while visiting a friend's family in Vietnam

I was staying with my friend's family in Hanoi for a week last spring. We were having dinner and I noticed a framed photo of an older man on a shelf. Trying to be polite, I asked my friend's mom who the nice man in the picture was. The whole table went quiet. My friend later told me it was her grandfather who passed away, and directly asking about or pointing out photos of the dead is considered very bad luck and rude in their culture. I felt awful. I apologized right away, but the mood was off for the rest of the meal. My friend said her mom would probably do a small ritual later to ward off the bad energy. Has anyone else had a moment like this where a normal question in your culture was a huge taboo somewhere else?

I was quenching my blades in water for years before a guy in Montana set me straight

I was making a camp knife last fall and the edge kept cracking, every single time. A smith from Missoula saw me do it at a meet and just said, 'You're cooking the steel, not cooling it.' He explained that my 1095 steel needs oil, not water, to cool slow enough. I felt like an idiot for all those ruined blanks. Last Tuesday, I posted that the new roundabout design seemed to ignore traffic data from the last three years. I linked to the public county reports showing a 40% increase in truck traffic on that route. The admin deleted it within an hour, saying it 'wasn't constructive' and to take it to a town hall meeting instead. In my experience, those meetings are scheduled when most people are at work. Rant: That 'quick dry' creosote remover spray cost me $80 and a whole afternoon

Bought a gallon of 'SootAway Pro' spray from a supply house in Akron, thinking it would cut my cleaning time in half. It just made a sticky, smelly mess that took me three extra hours to scrub out with a wire brush. Has anyone else tried a chemical cleaner that totally backfired on a brick flue?

So I found a way to keep my truck from freezing solid at -20 in Fairbanks

Last winter, my battery kept dying overnight even with a new one. I was plugging in the block heater, but that wasn't enough. I started putting a 60-watt trouble light under the hood near the battery, on a timer for 4 hours before sunrise. It's just a cheap bulb in a metal cage. The tiny bit of heat kept the battery from turning into a brick. Has anyone else used a dumb trick like this, or is there a better way?

Showerthought: Aligning elevator doors in old buildings doesn't have to take all day.

I've been fixing a lot of older buildings lately, and misaligned elevator doors pop up often! The foundations sink over years, messing with the door alignment. Instead of a full recalibration each time, I use a quicker method. First, I check the door tracks with a laser level. Then, I tweak the guide shoes using a hex key when the car is parked at the floor. This cuts down the time by hours compared to the old way! I tested this on a service visit a while back and it was perfect. Now I do it for every similar fix, and it really helps!
