Swapped injectors on a 7.3 and the difference was night and day

My old injectors were tired. Cranking took forever. Smoked like a freight train. Pulled them after 200k miles and put in a set of reman 160cc injectors. Truck starts instantly now and the power band is way smoother. Any of you guys see that big a change just from injectors?

The part about the Oklahoma tuner got me because I had almost the exact same story play out with my truck. My 7.3 was a totally different truck after the injectors went in, but it ran like garbage for about a month until I found a guy in Texas who does tunes for these trucks. He told me the same thing about the PCM just dumping extra fuel with no regard for timing or air. I didn't believe it would make that big of a difference but he was right, it completely changed how the power came on. Do you remember which tuner in Oklahoma your buddy used?

Have you tried putting on a hydraulic tune or custom tuning after the swap? I put in 160cc remans on my 7.3 and the real kicker was getting a chip that actually knew how to use the extra fuel. Mine ran rich and lazy until I got a proper tune (PHP Hydra, if you're curious) and it woke the whole thing up, especially the mid-range torque. Night and day doesn't even cover it when you match injectors with the right programming.

2002 F-250 with 196,000 miles here. I remember a buddy of mine, @dixon.amy, had a similar issue with his truck after he swapped in some 180cc injectors. He was pulling a 30-foot gooseneck loaded with drywall and could barely keep it at 60 on a grade. Turned out his old PCM tune was just dumping fuel and choking on its own smoke. He finally got a custom tune from a guy in Oklahoma who specialized in heavy towing setups, and it turned that truck into a whole different animal. I'm talking about a 15% bump in fuel economy empty and enough grunt to pull a house off its foundation, no joke. It's funny how a little computer programming can make or break a big mechanical change like that.
