Drew a portrait for 6 hours and the file corrupted at the end
I was at my desk in the shop between dog appointments, working on a digital portrait for a client. Got the whole thing done down to the highlights, hit save, and Procreate just froze. When I reopened it, the file was blank with a question mark. I spent the next hour digging through auto-backups on my iPad and thankfully found a version from 4 hours in. Had to redo the eyes and shading from memory. Anyone else had a recovery method that actually works for corrupted art files?

and i mean this gently but is losing 2 hours of work really that big of a deal? you got 4 hours of it back which is pretty solid for digital art honestly. most of the time when something corrupts you get nothing at all so id say you lucked out. procreate is usually pretty good about auto saves but it aint perfect and you cant really expect it to be. if you were working on something that critical you probably should have been saving manual backups along the way like every 30 minutes or so. digital files corrupt all the time its just a thing that happens.

@gavins43 yeah that's fair but idk, losing two hours still stings even if you get most of it back. reminds me of the time i was editing a video in iMovie and it crashed right as i hit export. lost like an hour of color grading and had to redo it by memory because i couldn't remember exactly what i did. manual backups sound smart but who actually remembers to do that every 30 minutes? i always think "i'll do it later" and then later never comes.
