Finally got a drawing tablet after months of doubting it would help
I've been doing digital art with a mouse for like 3 years and kept telling myself a tablet was overhyped. Picked up a basic Wacom One last week on sale for $60 and wow I was wrong. Being able to control pressure on brushes changed my shading completely in just 2 days. My lineart went from shaky to smooth after maybe 5 hours of practice. Anyone else take forever to switch over and regret waiting so long?

Oh man, did I ever drag my feet on this (literally years, because I thought I was fine with my mouse). I finally caved and got a cheap Huion after using my mouse for so long that I actually had a callus on my clicking finger - how sad is that? The first time I tried a pressure-sensitive brush for blending, I literally laughed out loud at how much easier it was than my old mouse method of tiny little click-drags. My lines still look like a drunk spider drew them sometimes, but at least now I can blame it on my shaky hands instead of my cheap equipment.

Has anyone here considered that a tablet might actually change how you think about your art, not just how you make it? I was skeptical too until I realized my mouse was making me avoid certain techniques entirely like blending softer edges or doing any kind of texture work. Once I got the tablet, I started experimenting with things I never would have tried before, and it opened up whole new ways of drawing for me. The pressure sensitivity is great and all, but the real gift was getting my brain out of that mouse-only rut I had been stuck in for years.
