Got chewed out by a senior mechanic over my torque wrench technique

Yep, had to learn that same slow-finish trick on Pratt turbine blades.

Learned the hard way not to quench a hot anvil

Dropped a heavy hammer right on the tip of my favorite cross peen once, chipped it so bad it looked like a shark bit it. Spent the whole next weekend grinding it back into shape on a bench grinder, took forever and the temper went all weird in that spot. Still works for rough stuff but it's never quite the same, you know? Makes me wonder how many old anvils out there got ruined by some impatient apprentice back in the day doing the exact same thing you did.

Had to rewrite 30 prompts after ChatGPT updated last week

Three months of prompt backups seems excessive for a chatbot, doesn't it?

Rant: My POS system crashed and wiped a whole day of sales data

My Square POS ate three days of transactions back in 2018 and I still get a little twitchy thinking about it. I ended up writing down every single sale on paper for about a month after that because I just didn't trust anything. Lesson learned though, I do hourly local backups now on a cheap flash drive and it's saved me twice already.

Spent $80 on a pipe threading kit for one project. Now it's just taking up shelf space.

My in-laws bought one of those massive tile saws for a bathroom reno five years ago (you know, the wet saw with the water tray that takes up half a garage). It's still sitting in their basement with the original receipt taped to the box, practically mocking them every time they walk past. I swear specialty tools are just adult version of those single-purpose kitchen gadgets we all bought on clearance. At least you only paid $80, not the $300 my neighbor dropped on a pipe bender to run one line of copper. Honestly, my local tool library would have loved to see you coming.
