Just realized people keep calling the Wayback Machine a free speech tool, and that is not what it does
I got a comment pulled from a news site last month and someone in a forum told me not to worry because the Wayback Machine had it covered, but the archive only keeps what its crawlers happen to grab, so the post was never saved. I checked the CDX API by hand and confirmed the last capture was 3 weeks before I ever wrote anything. Does anyone here run their own archiving setup, or do you just accept that most deleted stuff is gone for good?

I set up an RSS-to-archive script (plus manual saves) after losing comments the same way.
