Why I'm not jumping on the local-only flower bandwagon
I see a lot of talk about using only local flowers, and I get the appeal. But in my area, local farms just don't have the variety I need all year. During the cold months, my options would be super limited if I stuck to nearby growers. I've found that bringing in flowers from other places lets me keep my shop full and colorful. Customers ask for specific blooms like calla lilies or peonies that aren't native here. By mixing imported stems with local ones, I can make everyone happy. This method has actually helped my business grow when seasons are tough. I think being flexible is key in this trade.
