TIL that a 1 second delay on my site cost me 7 percent of signups
I was reading a blog post from Portent and they said every extra second of load time cuts conversions by around 7 percent. So I ran my own site through PageSpeed and my mobile version was loading in 4.8 seconds because of one big image. I compressed it down to under 200kb and the next week my email signups went from 11 to 19. Anyone else got a speed fix that actually moved the needle?
Heard the same stat on a podcast a while back and finally tested it myself. Turns out my custom font was blocking everything, switched to a system font and my bounce rate dropped almost overnight. Free fix and I was kicking myself for not trying it sooner.
