Hit 10,000 email subscribers and most came from a single typo
I run a small cleaning business and started a weekly newsletter with tips for landlords, mostly to keep my name out there. After 18 months I was stuck around 800 subscribers, doing the usual Instagram plugs and blog posts. Then last month I made a typo in a Reddit comment on a property management thread, wrote my website URL as 'cleaningservice' instead of 'cleaning-services', and somehow that post blew up. Over 9,200 people clicked through in 5 days, and my list jumped past 10k without a single ad spend. I can't even replicate it, I tried reposting the same comment with the typo and it got 12 upvotes. Is this just luck or does the algorithm reward human mistakes like that? Has anyone else had a random typo or accident outperform every planned campaign they've run?
