Appreciation post: I tried the 'work from a cafe' thing in Chiang Mai for 2 weeks straight
I thought it would be a great way to meet people and get out of my apartment, but honestly, I got way less done than usual and spent over $100 on coffee and snacks. Some people say it's the core of the lifestyle, but I think it's a productivity trap. Do you actually get real work done in cafes, or is it mostly for the vibe?

Consider the cafe as a tool for a very specific job, like only going there to power through the first rough draft of something. The background noise can help you start, but you have to leave before you get comfortable. It turns from a work spot into an expensive social club the moment you order that second drink.

Sounds a bit strict for just getting coffee. Sometimes a second drink is just a second drink.
