Booked a hostel in Lisbon with 2 bars of wifi and got more done than in 3 months at home
I was paying $1,400 a month for a coworking desk in Austin and still getting nothing done, so I tried something dumb on my last trip: I stopped hunting for fast wifi and just worked in 45 minute chunks whenever the hostel signal showed up. My output doubled in Lisbon last month, and I think the forced breaks did more than any productivity app I ever paid for. Has anyone else found that worse internet actually helped their focus, or am I just fooling myself here?
Sounds like you just needed a break from your routine more than you needed bad wifi, honestly. Plenty of people get tons done on fast connections, so the 2 bars thing might be a coincidence you are reading too much into. Take it with a grain of salt, but I would test this again somewhere with good signal before calling it a real fix.
