Chiang Mai co-working hype misses the real cost of slow wifi

Every blog raves about the $300/month lifestyle here, but I just spent 4 hours in a popular cafe waiting for a 10MB file to upload. Has anyone else found that the digital nomad buzzwords ignore how spotty the actual internet is outside the top 3 spots?
