Hit 30 countries last week in Chiang Mai and the number that got me was 4
I started this whole thing back in 2016 with a one way ticket to Lisbon and figured I would last maybe a year. Fast forward to last week in Chiang Mai and I crossed country number 30, which sounds impressive until you do the math. It took me 4 different tries to actually feel settled somewhere instead of just passing through. The first few years I was chasing wifi speed and cheap rent, now I mostly care about whether there is a good market within walking distance and a gym that does not smell like a locker room. Anyone else find the big country count stopped mattering once you found a spot you actually want to go back to?
The country count thing totally makes sense. I remember hitting a number I thought would feel big and just kind of... feeling nothing lol. Once you find that one place with the good market and a gym that doesn't gross you out, chasing more stamps just feels like work.
