I moved to Chiang Mai with three shirts and a laptop, and it turns out I hate being that light
Six months ago I sold most of my stuff in Chicago and flew to Chiang Mai with one carry on. I was proud of it, 7 kilos total, felt like I cracked some code. Two months in I started buying dumb little things, a mug, a real towel, a cheap chair. Turns out sitting on a hostel bed to work gets old fast when you do it 40 days in a row. My bag is now about 11 kilos and I sleep better and get more done, which was not the plan. I thought minimal was the goal, but for me it just meant being uncomfortable in a new country. Anyone else find that a little bit of stuff made the whole thing easier?
