Picked Hong Kong over Chiang Mai for my first 3 months as a nomad and it was a wild ride

Maybe it's just me but picking a city like Hong Kong for your first nomad spot is pretty brave. I did something similar with Tokyo and the fast pace actually helped me get into a routine faster than a slower city would have. The chaos forces you to figure things out quickly, which is kinda nice looking back.

Idk, I actually see it the opposite way. Slower cities are way better for your first time because you can actually think through your decisions without the noise. Hong Kong and Tokyo are both insane in their own ways, but jumping into that kind of chaos right away just feels like setting yourself up for burnout. You end up spending more energy just surviving the city instead of learning how to be a nomad. Plus figuring things out slowly is kind of the whole point of the lifestyle, isn't it? You miss a lot of the small stuff when you're constantly fighting against the pace.

Honestly I think the food scene alone makes Hong Kong worth it for a first timer. You can eat like a king for cheap and the variety is insane. Plus the hiking trails are right there when the city noise gets too much.
