Pro tip: I chose a tiny town in Portugal over Lisbon for a month
I had to pick between a fast internet hub like Lisbon or a quiet spot in the Alentejo region. I went with the small town of Monsaraz, which only has about 800 people. My download speed was a solid 50 Mbps, and the quiet mornings were worth the extra trip to the bigger grocery store. Has anyone else found a hidden gem that worked better than the obvious digital nomad city?

Honestly, who needs another overpriced coworking space? My best work month was in a fishing village in Croatia where the main daily event was the ferry horn. Internet was just good enough for calls, and my biggest distraction was deciding which bakery had the better burek. Sometimes the quiet just lets your brain actually work, you know?

Forget the quiet, it's the lack of decision fatigue that does it. A coworking space presents you with fifty tiny choices about where to sit, what coffee to drink, and who to talk to. In a village, your options are baked goods and maybe the beach. Your brainpower goes to actual work instead of just setting up to work.
