PSA: Stop lying about your 'work setup' in coworking spaces

I swear every other guy in Chiang Mai posts a photo of their laptop with some fancy coffee and claims they're 'grinding.' But I watched the same dude spend 3 hours watching TikTok yesterday instead of actually working. Why does this bug me? Because it makes the lifestyle look fake to people who are actually trying to build something. I've been nomading for 2 years now and I track my billable hours at 30 per week minimum. Has anyone else noticed how many people just cosplay as productive here?

oh man have you ever watched someone unbox a brand new MacBook at a coffee shop just to take a photo of it next to a flat white? i saw this guy in Bali do that last year and then he literally closed the laptop and scrolled his phone for the next 2 hours. like why even bring it dude? the thing about these spaces is that half the people there are just trying to look the part. i remember this one time i was in a coworking space in Lisbon and there was this whole group doing a photo shoot with their laptops on the rooftop. they were adjusting the angles and everything. nobody was actually typing. it's just weird how much energy people put into pretending instead of just actually doing the work or going to the beach. like pick a lane you know?

Three times, @alices16. I've been that guy with the staged laptop photo (and yes, the flat white got cold while I was failing to look cool). At least he'll have a really nice Instagram memory of not working, right?
