Took me 11 days in Lisbon to get a bank account so I could actually get paid
My client only pays by local transfer, so I sat in a branch in Lisbon 3 different times with my passport and lease and got turned away twice for small stuff like a missing tax number. Getting that one paper finally took 11 days total, and I still don't fully get why it had to be that hard. What's the dumbest paperwork wall you've hit while working from another country?
Wow, 11 days just to open an account? That is wild! Two rejections over a missing tax number when you already had your passport and lease in hand just seems cruel. I can't believe they made you sit in that branch three separate times and still kept sending you away. The tax number thing gets people every time because nobody tells you upfront that you need it before anything else can move. It feels like the whole system is set up to wear you down until you just give up. You hung in there way longer than most people would.
