Just had to choose between looping a sample or playing keys live for my D11-04 track

Picked the live keys even though it took 12 takes to get it right because the sample loop felt too stiff, but now that track has this raw energy that makes the whole album hang together better, anyone else ever ditch the easy option for something that took way longer?

Yeah the "raw energy" part is what makes it worth it honestly. I feel like you can hear the difference when someone actually plays through a part versus just looping it, even if it's messy.

This one time I was tracking a part and accidentally left my metronome click in the background (oops), but honestly the take had so much grit I just kept it. @piper_dixon45 nailed it though, those little flubs and breaths make it feel alive instead of sterile.
