How I silenced a noisy door hinge using something from my bathroom

My front door hinge was so loud it sounded like a horror movie. I tried oil but it didn't help much. Then I recalled my grandma using soap on squeaky drawers. I grabbed a bar of plain soap and rubbed it on the hinge pin. The squeak stopped right away, and it's been quiet for weeks. It's a free fix if you have soap handy. Give it a try before you buy special lubricants.

Did you know soap works on sticky windows too?

The kitchen slider gets so bad every spring. Honestly, a little dish soap on a rag is my go to fix now. I tried it last week and it worked way better than the silicone spray I used to buy. It cuts through that greasy kid grime and leaves just enough slick film behind. Ngl, it feels like one of those weirdly perfect home tricks. Total game changer for any window that sticks.

It works for a little while, but I've found it can actually attract more dirt over time. That slick film turns into a magnet for dust and pollen, making the track gunk up faster. I still prefer a dry lube spray for a longer lasting fix.
