Caught myself caulking over rotted trim, felt like a rookie
Last weekend I was patching up the window frames in my 1970s ranch and just started slapping caulk over this soft spot near the sill. My neighbor Mike walked over and asked why I wasn't cutting out the rot first. I honestly had no answer, I'd been doing it that way for 3 houses. Now I'm staring at a 2 foot section of framing that's basically sawdust. Has anyone else had that moment where a pro points out something painfully obvious you've been messing up for years?
