Hit 5000 revit families without even realizing it until the file got corrupted
When I cracked open the audit log after the crash, I was laughing through the panic because apparently I’ve been hoarding custom families like a digital dragon since 2019, 5000 of them, and now I’m wondering how many of those are actually duplicates or just weird personal experiments with pipe fittings.

oh man @taylor_flores is totally right about that, i learned that lesson the hard way after i lost a whole library of door families to a link breaking. now i keep everything in a separate project file with shared parameters and just load what i need, it saves so much headache. the worst part is realizing half those 5000 families are probably just slightly different flange sizes you made at 2am and forgot about.

Read somewhere that most smart families store linked data outside the file to avoid this exact nightmare.
