Chain angle check saved my cutter teeth after 3 weeks of grinding

I kept burning through cutter teeth on a sand and clay mix near Baton Rouge, replacing them every 2 weeks and chasing my tail on swing speed. Finally watched an old timer on a neighboring job check his chain angle with a simple level and realized I was running about 8 degrees too steep. Adjusted the ladder to match the material bed and suddenly the teeth lasted 5 weeks, no joke. The drag on the cutter head was the tell, but I was too stubborn to measure. Anyone else dial in their angle based on sediment type or do you just run whatever the manual says?
