My uncle told me to always grease the swing winch gearbox every 200 hours, not 500 like the manual says. He was right, I just had to replace one after 18 months.

My uncle's always been a bit dramatic about stuff like that. He made it sound like a complete disaster if I didn't follow his advice. I'm just not convinced the other way would have been that bad. Sometimes I wonder if people just like to make small problems seem huge.

Totally agree with the "major headache" thing. People who have been through it just KNOW. Like my cousin ignored similar advice about a used car, saved a few bucks, and then spent months dealing with transmission issues. The stress and extra money were way worse. Sometimes the boring, safe path is the one that actually saves your sanity.
