Pro tip: Use a straight edge and a razor to avoid sanding mud off outlets
I overheard this from an old-timer at the supply house on Elm Street last Tuesday. He said just score around the outlet boxes with a utility knife before the mud dries, then pop the excess off clean. Saved me at least 20 minutes on a 12-outlet basement job today. Anybody else tried this instead of sanding the crap out of your switch plates?

Twenty minutes saved and nobody's shocked?

And nobody is shocked? That is honestly wild to me. Twenty minutes is not just some tiny little thing. That's enough time to actually sit down and eat a full meal without shoving it in your face. Or to take five whole minutes to breathe and then another fifteen to do a quick chore or two. I don't know about you guys, but if I got twenty minutes back in my day I'd be doing a happy dance, not just shrugging it off. Are people really that used to wasting time or what?
