Switched from hand taping to a bazooka and I'm still getting used to it
I used to tape all my joints by hand for 15 years, but my shoulder started giving out after 8 hours on a big job in Austin last spring. Got a Level 5 bazooka and it saves time but I keep getting these little bubbles in the compound that I never had before. Anyone else have trouble adjusting to a mechanical taper or do I just need to slow down my mud consistency?

torres.jason mentioned thinning the mud, and that's exactly what a buddy of mine found out when he got his first bazooka. He tried it for a weekend job and ended up with more bubbles than a soda fountain. He swore he'd never touch it again until his brother told him to add a splash of water to the mix. After that, he said it went from a headache to a decent tool. Still prefers hand work for the finish coat though, said the bazooka feels like using a fire hose for a garden sprinkler.

Man I used to swear by hand taping too... swore I'd never switch, but after my wrists started barking at me I caved and got a bazooka. Had the same bubble problem at first though, thinning the mud just a tiny bit fixed it for me.
