Forgot to register as a refugee in Germany and spent 3 months in limbo
I landed in Munich back in 2018 and honestly had no idea what I was doing. My friend said to go to this one office but I went to the wrong one by accident. They sent me to three different buildings over two days. By the time I figured it out I had missed the 2 week deadline. Spent the next 3 months with no ID card, no housing help, nothing. Lived off a guy I met at the train station who let me sleep on his floor. Anyone else miss a simple step and get stuck in the system for way too long?

Wait, how hard was it to just get a meal? @sean_park8 I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty lucky. The guy I crashed with worked at a kebab shop and he'd bring home leftover meat and bread most nights. Other days I'd hit up the food banks near the train station, they didn't check for papers. A couple times a church group handed out sandwiches in the park, no questions asked. What about you, did you ever run into a situation where people just helped out without needing ID?
