Found a weird workaround for sending money home after 3 banks blocked me

After my third bank in Madrid froze my transfer to my mom in Caracas, I tried buying crypto with a prepaid card and converting it through a local exchanger, and it worked in about 20 minutes with way less fees, has anyone else had to get this creative just to pay rent for family?

Did your banks give you a reason for the freeze, or just the usual silence? My buddy in Lisbon hit the same wall sending cash to his dad in Lagos, ended up doing the prepaid card to crypto route too, worked like a charm in under an hour. It's messed up that we gotta hack around our own money just to help family, but at least there's a path that doesn't eat you in fees.
