Read one line in a fulfillment thread and switched my whole packing setup
Someone in a Shopify FB group posted "your boxes cost more than your product if you buy from Uline." That hit me. I was paying $1.20 per box for small items I sell at $14. Found 500 kraft mailers on eBay for $0.31 each. Saved $445 this month already. Also switched to poly bags for soft goods. Anyone else catch themselves overpaying for shipping supplies just because it was familiar?
My last batch of boxes I bought from a local supplier back in 2021, 200 of them for like $90. I thought that was just the going rate until I found out they were double walled and meant for heavy machinery parts. My stuff weighs maybe 8 ounces. So I had all these giant thick boxes sitting in my garage taking up space, and I felt too dumb to use anything else. Then I switched to plain white mailers from a paper supply place near my cousin's shop, 100 for $25. It's funny how you just accept a price tag until somebody points out you're shipping a feather in a tank.
