My tenant tried to pay rent with a signed hockey stick

Last month a guy in Oliver offered me a Mark Messier autographed stick for his August rent. Said it was worth 400 bucks so it should cover the 900 he owed. I told him I need cash or e-transfer, not memorabilia. He got upset and said I was being unreasonable. I called a friend who does sports appraisals just to check and he laughed for five minutes. The stick is worth maybe 60 at a garage sale. I ended up serving him a 14 day eviction notice. Has anyone else gotten weird barter offers from tenants in Edmonton?

So you'd rather have a pile of cash that loses value every year than a piece of Canadian sports history that could actually go up someday? Sounds like you're the one being unreasonable here.
