Overheard a guy at the Whyte Avenue bus stop say the LRT is faster than driving during rush hour

I was waiting for the 4 bus last Tuesday around 5 PM when this older guy in a work vest told his buddy that he takes the LRT from Century Park to Corona station every day because it saves him 20 minutes compared to sitting in traffic on Gateway. I started timing my own commute after hearing that. From my place in Mill Woods to downtown, driving takes me about 35 minutes on a good day and 50 on a bad one. But taking the bus to the LRT adds up to almost an hour with the transfer wait. Has anyone else actually tested their door to door times against what people claim?

Doesn't the LRT basically only work if you live right on the line? I timed the whole bus-to-train shuffle from my place once and it was brutal. Your own numbers kinda prove it's not always the shortcut people make it out to be.

Heard the city's transit report actually backs that guy up on the speed thing.
