Hit 50 showings on a single listing in Edmonton and nobody called me crazy

Everyone in my office said I was wasting my time pricing a duplex in Mill Woods at 10k over what the comps suggested. After 50 showings and 3 open houses, I got an offer 15k over asking last week. The buyers said they just needed time to find the right one, not a lower price. Has anyone else seen a listing take forever to sell but still beat the market?

My buddy had a bungalow in the north end, St. Albert area, sat for like four months with barely any showings. He was getting roasted by his realtor for not dropping the price. Then out of nowhere this family from Ontario flew in, saw it once, and paid 20k over list. They said the market where they came from was way higher so the price looked cheap to them. Ended up selling for more than the comps said it should. Sometimes it's just about finding the right weirdo buyer.
