PSA: My plumber buddy just called my conduit runs 'artistic'

He said, 'You guys spend more time making it look pretty than making it work,' and honestly, that stung a bit. How do you balance clean work with not overdoing it on a simple residential job?

What does your buddy think is the actual PROBLEM with neat work? A clean install is a functional install that's easier to service later.

What does he think happens in five years when you need to trace a wire? My last house had a rat's nest in the panel and it took an extra hour just to find the right circuit. A clean bundle with some zip ties isn't art, it's just being smart. It works now and it'll be way easier to fix later. That's just doing the job right.
