That conversation with a journeyman in Detroit about bending rigid conduit still sticks with me
He told me to stop relying on my bender's degree marks and start visualizing the bend before I pull the handle, and now I can't unsee how much time I wasted doing three-fourths of a bend wrong on a 90 in a parking lot last month, has anyone else had a mentor give you a tip that totally changed your approach to a basic job?

Honestly, "visualize the bend before you pull the handle" - that's gold. Changes the whole feel of the job.

How long you been bending conduit? Once you get that muscle memory down, it's like second nature. I still catch myself eyeballing the mark on the bender wrong sometimes though, especially when I'm in a rush and the job site's a mess. Visualization helps but don't overthink it - just pull steady and let the bender do the work. A little practice with scrap pieces and you'll have it dialed in.
