Had a customer bring in a microwave that smelled like burnt popcorn and cat pee

Last week, this guy comes into the shop with a microwave that wouldn't turn on. I opened it up and found a whole cat toy, one of those little jingly balls, fused to the magnetron. He said his cat must have batted it through the vent. Anyone else had an animal cause a repair job?

Pets cause way more appliance damage than people realize. I've pulled enough fur and kibble from dryer vents to fill a pillow. It's a real hidden cost of having animals.

Ever wonder, @tyler_hunt72, how much pet hair actually shortens an appliance's life?

Oh man, that's wild about the cat toy. Did the guy even know his cat was playing appliance hockey? Totally agree with you and @daniel552 on this. I once opened a window AC unit for a noise complaint and it was just packed solid with what looked like an entire mouse nest, insulation and all. The fan couldn't even turn. It's crazy what ends up in there.
