I finally saw the point of those old Otis relay panels after a trip to the Boston Public Library

They have a working elevator from the 1920s, and I watched the maintenance guy do a full check on the original relay logic. He said the clear layout lets you trace a problem in minutes, something you can't always do with a modern controller's error code list. It made me think maybe we lost something moving everything to digital menus. Has anyone else worked on one of those old systems and found it easier to fix than you expected?
