I spent $180 on a laser alignment tool and it saved me 3 hours on one call
I was fighting with a door sensor that kept tripping the safety edge on a Schindler 3300. That laser paid for itself in time saved on that single service call. Any of you guys use one for quick alignments?

Man I've been there with those Schindler 3300 door sensors. The laser tool is a lifesaver for dialing in the safety edge without having to climb up and down a dozen times. I bought a cheap one for around 60 bucks off Amazon and it's paid for itself on the first job where I had a misaligned photocell on an Otis elevator. You just set it up at the sensor, walk to the reflector, and adjust until the beam hits dead center. Saves you all that guesswork and back and forth. Definitely worth the money if you do more than a couple alignments a month.

Wait why do you think the expensive ones are worth it? I grabbed a cheap 40 dollar laser off Amazon and it works fine for aligning doors, it's just a red dot with some leveling bubbles. On a Schindler 3300 I just stick the laser on the sensor housing with a magnet, walk to the reflector, and adjust by eye till it hits the same spot. Took maybe 10 minutes tops. I figure if the cheap ones die after a year or two, I can buy four of them for what you paid for one.
