My encrypted chat logs were leaked by a bad app update.

That bug killed my trust in tools that are supposed to protect free speech.

Guess the encryption only works when the app doesn't update itself... what a feature.

Wait they can just push an update that turns OFF the encryption? That's the actual backdoor right there. So the whole "secure" thing was just a setting they could flip anytime.

Ask what good encryption even is if the company can push a bad update that wrecks it. Sage204 has a point about updates being a weak spot, and that's frankly scary. It means the promise of safety was just an illusion the whole time. This goes way past one app, it makes you doubt the whole system they sold us on. How are we supposed to trust any update won't do the same thing later.
