Rant: My encrypted messaging app locked me out during a protest livestream

Honestly, I was trying to stream a city council meeting in Portland last Tuesday and Signal decided to glitch out and freeze on me right when a councilmember started shouting about surveillance. I had to switch to plain text SMS just to keep my updates going, which felt totally wrong for a privacy-focused event. Ngl, has anyone else had a secure app fail them at the worst possible moment? I'm thinking of switching to Matrix now, but the setup looks like a headache.

Was this the city council meeting on the 12th where they were debating the new drone ordinance? Did Signal freeze completely or just crash the video part while text still worked?

Are we calling that thing video or a PowerPoint presentation with motion sickness? It froze hard, like my 2008 laptop running three tabs of Chrome. The text kept going - people in the chat were losing their minds while the video just sat there, stuck on some guy's confused face. Whole thing was a mess. Would've been better off listening on the radio.
