Talked me out of hiring a VA after chatting with a freelancer in Omaha

I was dead set on getting a virtual assistant to handle my inbox and scheduling. But last week I talked to this guy who runs a web dev shop out of Omaha, and he told me his VA actually made more work for him in the first 3 months. He said I'd be better off using a $15 tool like Calendly and just auto-deleting 80% of my emails. It hit different because he showed me his actual numbers, like 12 hours saved a week just from cutting junk. Has anyone else found that hiring help too early just backfired?

Did you actually try the Calendly thing first? I did the same dance with a VA last year and it was a mess. They kept flagging random stuff as important that was just noise, and I spent more time telling them what to delete than doing it myself. Now I just batch process my inbox twice a day with a simple filter system, and it's way smoother. Sometimes the cheap tools do the job better than people, especially early on when you don't even know what you really need help with yet.

Respectfully disagree... cheap tools can't replace knowing what actually matters.
