I was wrong about using rasps for finish work
Watching an old timer use a file instead showed me how much smoother it gets. Now I always keep one in my kit.

Which files do you reach for? I switched to Nicholson brand and they smooth things out way better for me.

Still think a good rasp beats any file for smoothing, despite what @the_brian saw.
