Remember when everyone said cargo pants would never come back?
I was so sure they were a dead trend from my high school years, like 2003. Then I saw a designer in Milan last year use them in a high-end collection, with these amazing tailored pockets. After that, I started seeing them everywhere in street style photos. I tried sketching a pair with a sleeker cut and lighter fabric, and it totally worked for a modern look. Has anyone else tried updating a trend they used to hate?

Honestly, the whole thing just reminds me of my little cousin. He spent like eighty dollars on these shiny track pants last year, the exact kind we all wore in middle school. He thought he was so ahead of the curve. I had to dig out an old yearbook to show him my class photo, me looking like a confused raver in the same pants. His face was priceless. Fashion just loves to play these weird tricks on us.

Milan's fancy pockets won't make me forgive the cargo pants I wore in 2003.

My local mall has three stores selling those exact same bulky pocket pants right now. It feels like fashion just waits twenty years to recycle our worst mistakes. I saw a kid paying a hundred bucks for pants that look like my old gym class uniform. The cycle is so predictable it makes me tired.
