That time a customer wanted their fence built without any posts...

I know it sounds wild, but hear me out... they had rocky soil and didn't want to dig. We used a continuous rail system anchored to existing structures. Most fence guys would say it won't last, but three years later, it's still solid. I've done a few more like this and it's a neat solution for tricky spots.

Without posts, that fence is relying entirely on those anchors. A big storm or shifting ground could really mess it up. Posts are there to hold it up, and skipping them seems like a temporary fix.

Utility maps show buried lines often run close to fence lines. Anchors driven deep can hit pipes or cables, causing expensive repairs. Posts spread the load and are easier to place safely.

Oh totally, I've seen that exact thing happen. My neighbor tried just using those screw-in anchors for a section of his chain link to save time, and the next big windstorm just folded it over like a cheap lawn chair. It's not just about holding it up now, it's about keeping the whole thing rigid when the ground gets soggy or the wind really picks up... those posts give it a fighting chance. Saving a bit of work upfront turns into a way bigger headache later.
