Rant: My stubborn glue method just saved a tricky bathroom floor

Finished a small bathroom where the subfloor was way off level, and I stuck with full-spread adhesive for sheet vinyl instead of the peel-and-stick everyone loves. Most guys hate the mess and dry time, but that glue locked it down solid with no bubbles or lifting corners. The homeowner was thrilled it stayed flat, and I felt pretty good about ignoring the popular choice. Sometimes the old way just works better.

Yeah, I read an article last week where a bunch of old-school contractors were saying the same thing... that modern peel-and-stick just doesn't have the same grab on imperfect floors. Your story totally proves that point, even if it's a messier job. Glad it worked out so well for you.

My cousin's peel-and-stick floor failed after just six months, and that opened my eyes. The tiles curled up at the edges because her subfloor wasn't perfectly flat. Now I see why the old adhesive method holds up better over time.

What did she expect on a bumpy floor? Peel and stick needs a perfect surface to work right. That's just how those things go.
