Remember when we used to get all our flowers from the local wholesaler?

My shop in Spokane used to get 90% of its product from one guy, but after a bad frost in 2021 wiped out his crop for a month, I had to scramble. Now I source from three different regional farms and a direct importer, which costs about 15% more but I haven't had a supply gap in two years. Has anyone else completely changed their sourcing setup after one bad event?

Sounds like a lot of extra work for one bad month. Most places would just eat the loss and wait it out. Bet your old supplier figured his stuff out after that.

Honestly depends on the scale of the problem though. If the product is straight up rotten or unsafe, you can't just serve that and hope nobody notices. One bad review from a food poisoning scare can wreck a place for good. Switching might be a pain but it's better than rolling the dice with your rep. Sometimes a supplier messing up that bad shows a bigger issue with their whole operation.
